My last outfit may have been all about the men-inspired look, but that doesn’t stop me from playing dress up from time to time. Taking out a summer-esque wardrobe for one last spin (thanks to the unbelievable weather we’ve had last week), I’m sharing one of my fave skirts of all time. Circle skirts are no easy to feat to pull off, especially for a girl like me (I’m a bit on the stockier side). The key to making this look work? A belt. Cinch the waist for that hourglass shape.

The floral lace design is one of the reasons why I bought this piece, so to make sure I get a lot of wear out of it, I love teaming this skirt with a casual tee for the everyday. Paired with an ultra blingin’ statement necklace, I chose a sheer navy top to adds a hint of sultriness to juxtapose this rather feminine skirt. But making sure my overall outfit was not too OTT for the daytime (what, you mean regular people don’t wear this to lunch?), I opted for a relatively neutral palette in the accessories department – casual heeled sandals, a leather satchel and a vintage pair of sunglasses – to tone down the look only just a tad. No one said anything about blending into the crowd.

Although we can officially bid winter adieu, spring has been quite the finicky season this year. In just one week, temperatures dropped from 20 degrees celsius to negative 8 and back to plus 4 in less than 36 hours. Oh yeah, did I also mention there was a 5 cm of snowfall? Not something we Torontonians wanted to wake up to in the morning.

Since I hadn’t stored my winter coats away due to sheer laziness  (I guess it worked in my favour), I was a good sport and dressed up in my favourite winter uniform praying this would be the last time. When the day is cold and gloomy, a head-to-toe black outfit is my go-to, especially when it includes a turtleneck to keep my neck warm and a flare skirt to give me some shape. I topped it off with a fur vest for that extra warmth and texture and a cobalt blue suede bag for that pop of colour to lift the mood and keep things sartorially interesting.
