My last outfit may have been all about the men-inspired look, but that doesn’t stop me from playing dress up from time to time. Taking out a summer-esque wardrobe for one last spin (thanks to the unbelievable weather we’ve had last week), I’m sharing one of my fave skirts of all time. Circle skirts are no easy to feat to pull off, especially for a girl like me (I’m a bit on the stockier side). The key to making this look work? A belt. Cinch the waist for that hourglass shape.
The floral lace design is one of the reasons why I bought this piece, so to make sure I get a lot of wear out of it, I love teaming this skirt with a casual tee for the everyday. Paired with an ultra blingin’ statement necklace, I chose a sheer navy top to adds a hint of sultriness to juxtapose this rather feminine skirt. But making sure my overall outfit was not too OTT for the daytime (what, you mean regular people don’t wear this to lunch?), I opted for a relatively neutral palette in the accessories department – casual heeled sandals, a leather satchel and a vintage pair of sunglasses – to tone down the look only just a tad. No one said anything about blending into the crowd.
This past weekend I couldn’t ask for a better way to start the month. Not only did my shutterbug/sister come back for the weekend, my best friends and I reunited (finally!) over early morning dim sum. What could possibly be better than never-ending Chinese food in a restaurant filled with chatter for us relatively loud girls? Nothing.
While it may have been quite the dreary bi-polar weekend, it didn’t stop me from getting dressed up (any excuse to get dressed-up, am I right?). I originally wore a pair of black heels because the juxtaposition of oversized jeans and feminine dainty heels makes for one of my favourite looks. But with the rain and running errands in the afternoon, I decided to switch to a pair of practical black leather booties.
Borrowing this look from the men’s closet, I paired a schoolboy blazer with my favourite pair of boyfriend jeans that I practically live in when it comes to the weekend. Nothing beats a pair of roomy distressed jeans on a chilly damp morning.
Currently in love with my newly gifted Celfie tee that I’ve had my eyes on since I saw it on Sincerely, Jules. I already have my eyes on a couple other logo tees (here and here).
